I'm sat here with my friend. We've done the best part of a 10 mile walk today, and I'm catching up on the critical stuff.
However, something popped up.
You might remember a segment from the biography pictured here, which detailed her love of Diet Coke. http://msknight.booklikes.com/post/1229073/reading-progress-update-i-ve-read-251-out-of-380-pages
I ended up reading a section from a study on aspartame the start of last year - http://now.uiowa.edu/2014/03/ui-study-finds-diet-drinks-associated-heart-trouble-older-women
"Drinking two or more diet drinks a day may increase the risk of heart disease, including heart attack and stroke, in otherwise healthy postmenopausal women, according to a new University of Iowa study."
Christina effectively died from heart failure.
It seems like aspartame was not approved in Europe until the 1980's - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aspartame
Aspartame has never had an easy ride on the approval circuits and has suffered a lot of controversy. However, I don't find the UI study in the hoax/debunked list, so I wonder if this has anything to do with Christina's fate. We will likely never know.
